Dear Members,
I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year and Seasons’ Greetings. The year that has gone by has been personally a very satisfying one for me.
Having taken over the responsibility of leading the Managing Committee of GSCHBS in early 2024, I feel most privileged to have in my team a group of very knowledgeable and competent people from a varied background. With the help of this team, I have had the opportunity to initiate several new activities for the benefit of society and club members. It is my pleasure to share some of these with you.
Important Actions taken by the GSCHBS:
• A ramp in front of the society office has been built for the benefit of senior citizens.
• A joint committee has been set up to interact with the club and society members.
• A property tax collection camp was organized in June, 2024, in association with MCD. Several members benefited as a result of this.
• The following functions were held jointly by the society and the club in the Aravali Auditorium: –
• A Bollywood Musical Nite was held on 18 May 2024.
• A tribute to Bollywood Legend Mohammad Rafi was organised on 27th July 2024 to mark his centenary Year.
• Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on 24 August 2024.
• Ram Leela function was held on 21 September 2024. This was attended by a large crowd and was highly appreciated
• Bollywood Musical Nite was held on 14.12.2024
• Reel Talk Wednesday: –
– A film show “Taangh” was shown on 21 August 2024
– A film show “Call Me Dancer” was shown on 25 September 2024.
– A film show “Zikr us Parivash Ka” was shown on 23 October 2024.
– A film show “All that Breathes” was shown on 03 December 2024. This series of short non-feature films has been highly acclaimed by the members/viewers. Vasant Vihar Club Renovations
• The club’s bar has been remodelled completely from floor to roof and walls. It has been elevated to a new level, signaling a new chapter for F&B at the club.
• The Indian cuisine restaurant has been renovated and looks brighter and more spacious. It has been renamed Angeethi. The new chef has curated an expanded menu with new introductions and variations. The changes have been appreciated by members.
• Blue Tokai took over the café from Bizibean in Sept 2024. The gazebo by the side of the café brought cheer in November and has become a popular destination for members and their guests.
• Marigold (party venue) has been given a makeover to give it a fresh look.
• Work on minor changes in Mulberry Lounge is being taken up.
• The Sky Terrace has been given much-needed independent, elegant restrooms.
• A GRC JALI by the side of the gym along the ramp looks beautiful with its cove lighting effect.
Sports: • The table tennis facility has been doubled in size, on popular demand. It now houses two tables.
• The pickleball facility that had four courts will have another six courts, which will be thrown open by the 13th of January. We are proud to say that Vasant Vihar Club has one of the best pickleball facilities in the whole of NCR. A lot of new members are seeking membership, especially because of pickleball.
• In the gym, new weight training equipment and functional trainers have replaced the older equipment.
• The gym is being equipped with an ERV ventilation system to supply pollution-free air.
• The swimming pool filtration plant was given a major overhaul, and modification was done by installing more powerful and efficient circulation pumps to give better quality of water for the swimmers.
• The renovation of the changing rooms of the swimming pool is long overdue. These will be reopened towards the end of January with a new and modern look.
• The steam room facility will be opened to members towards the end of January.
Activities and Entertainment
• The Library Committee has been organizing a lot of book club events, including book launches.
• Very useful health talks and discussions have been held under the banner ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’
• Events for children: The magic show was held on 14 Nov 2024; the Christmas Carnival was held on 25 Dec 2024.
• Sufi night was held on 9 Nov 2024.
• Gazal night was held on 7 Dec 2024.
We are working on several new initiatives and hope to fulfill as many requirements and desires of the society’s and club members’ as we can during our tenure. We look forward to an atmosphere of bonhomie and harmony and hope to keep negativity away from these two esteemed colonies.
