Paul George School Students Put up a Grand Show
The cold, dreary 25th December Christmas morning, was snowballed into a carnival full of fun and frolic, all thanks to the Greater Kailash-2 Residents Welfare Association.
Their team along with the ladies of the RWA worked hard to build up and sustain the enthusiasm of all the residents, who not only participated but also added to the fun.
The day began with the RWA team members setting up a beautiful Christmas tree and helping people set up various stalls. Evening celebrations were ushered in with vibrant music and the stage was set to delight the audience with fun games, where residents of all ages participated actively and won many prizes too. The guest of honour, Saurabh Bharadwaj, seemed to enjoy the festivities too.
The highlight of the carnival was the show put up by the young students of our neighbourhood Paul George School. The school band and choir braved the cold, singing carols and songs making the whole environment come to life. The show stopper was a cute dance performance by students of grade 1 – merrily swinging to the beats of a drum dance. It was heartening to see the principal, teachers and parents cheering and encouraging these young children to perform. A young student of the school recited the Shiv Tandav Stotram fluently leaving everyone mesmerised.
The heartwarming story of Christmas… the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, into this world, more than 2000 years ago, was told with much fervor. A roly-poly red Santa, was a huge attraction for kids as he distributed gifts from his ever-full sack of goodies. The latter part of the evening saw a host of residents singing some popular Bollywood songs. Gracing the stage was ex-councillor Sh. Subhash Bhadana who enthralled the audience with his songs.
The stalls were truly worth a visit. From food… chaat papdi and cuisines from different states to fashionable clothing, jewellery, toys… there was entertainment for one and all. Kids made merry on the joy rides. It was indeed a day full of warmth and joy as neighbours met and exchanged pleasantries, laughed and had fun together. A big thanks to GK2 RWA for organising such a beautiful event and helping people bond and live in harmony.
