Over the past few months, Saurabh Bharadwaj has inaugurated several development projects in E-Block that have been in demand by residents for a long time. The jogging track in the park has been relayed, three backlane concrete layings have started, new swings have been installed in the park, the installation of security gates in backlanes to curb petty thefts has begun, the allocation of two air conditioners has been made, twenty chairs for the glass house have been allocated, five benches have been allocated, and two wheelbarrows for the park have been allocated.
In his outreach endeavor, Saurabh Bharadwaj held an interactive session in the Glass House E-Block, attended by a large number of residents and RWA members. While enumerating the several projects he had initiated on request of RWA and promised to do more whenever intimated.
While most residents were appreciative of Saurabh Bharadwaj’s accessibility and projects that have been taken up in E-Block, a few residents were critical of the delay in projects, the poor state of backlanes, and the lack of regular cleaning & upkeep. The MLA, while explaining the delay in projects, stated that he has limited MLA LAD funds to be equitably utilized in the entire constituency, ranging between Alaknanda, CR Park, GK-2, Panchsheel, Chirag Dilli, Shahpur, Jamrudpur, GK-1, Sant Nagar, etc.
To a pointed question of poor upkeep of backlanes and general apathy, therefore they will not vote for him, Bharadwaj said, while he cannot force people to vote for him, he reminded the residents that most of the apathy the resident has pointed out is to be addressed by the councillor, and the maintenance and laying of inner colony roads come under the purview of MCD. Explaining the mandate of MCD, he said he cannot utilize LAD funds for maintenance & upkeep; now the choice is for residents to either get a new jogging track or wait for MCD to repair or relay.
