One Security Guard Attacked & Another Suffers Head Injury in the Guard Room

Security of the sector has suddenly become a great concern. Not only the residents even the guards are at risk of being mauled and beaten.

A Security Guard was attacked at gate No. 11 on the evening of December 19 when he tried to prevent a group of boys from forcibly entering the sector. In retaliation, one of the boys struck the guard, causing severe injuries to his nose. According to RWCS security incharge Anil Aeron, the guard was taken to a private hospital and later shifted to a government hospital. CCTV footage from Gate 11 was unclear, but the scooter number was captured at Gate 14, helping in the investigation. As per RWCS, the matter has been reported to the police who are refusing to do anything in the matter in spite of rigorous follow-ups. The guards deployed at the gates are unarmed and have nothing to protect themselves. This incident shows how much risk the guards take.

In another unfortunate incident a security guard at Gate No. 11 suffered head injury when a brick from the guard room roof collapsed on him. The guard required three stitches and RWCS informed us that the guard was sent to the hospital for a checkup and there is no fracture. Residents have been concerned about the unsafe conditions and requested RWCS to take action. The above incident requires immediate repairs and proper maintenance of the guard rooms to prevent further accidents. RWCS has decided to immediately start repair of the guard rooms at the four main gates (Gate 3, 6, 11 and 14).

On January 15 at 4 am Security Guards arrested two miscreants when they tried to intrude into the sector near Jaipuria Plaza. A PCR call was made, however one suspect managed to escape even in the presence of the cops. The other, along with a parked car, was taken to the local police chowki for interrogation.

In another incident two boys in the guise of saree sellers were caught sneaking into the sector. They were on a motorcycle, claiming to be saree sellers, entered the sector but were quickly apprehended by security supervisor Abhay after a C Block resident raised an alarm. The suspects are being questioned, and police intervention will be sought if needed. The security team has lauded the resident’s quick action in ensuring everyone’s safety.

Close to the club gate a miscreant was trying to open the latch of a car that belonged to a guest visiting the club. The security supervisor apprehended him during his routine patrolling and handed him over to the police.

In another guard related incident, a security guard was caught stealing in CCTV footage in A-Block. The footage, which was shared by a resident on WhatsApp groups, shows a guard stealing vegetables from a covered cart of a vegetable vendor. The sabziwallah was not seen in the video, and the cart was left unattended. The incident seems to have occurred on 1st Jan 2025 at 5:40 AM, per the date and time stamped on the CCTV footage. As per Anil Aeron, (RWCS Security In-Charge), the footage was shared with the security agency, which has terminated the services of the guard.

Recently B block residents have reported that underage beggars are found loitering in B-Block. This was shared by the residents on the WhatsApp group and they were seen begging in the sector. They were going door to door and then moved towards the B-Block market. Residents feared that these beggars were possibly part of a gang and were scanning the neighbourhood. Guards should not allow entry of unknown people, particularly those who look suspicious.

Anil Aeron pointed out that there is a large influx of ‘outsiders’ in the sector given that there are hospitals, temples, and markets in the sector. One cannot ignore that the sector is indeed porous with 4 (out of 15) main gates open during the day, along with wicket gates and easy entry through Jaipuria Plaza and Nehru Park.

When Samvada spoke to Anil Aeron, he said that while he appreciates that residents are making others aware of security hazards by posting in WhatsApp groups, these WhatsApp messages cannot be checked in real time. He requested that residents also call the security supervisors and inform them immediately. This will help the guards in attending to the issue faster.

He also requested that more residents contribute by way of being members of RWCS and calling the security supervisors when they spot anything suspicious. Following numbers are for easy reference.
