The automotive industry along with its coatings and equipment suppliers are working towards carbon-neutral, green initiatives in coatings. A resident of South City 1, Virendra Gupta, was the key organiser of a recent CII Coatings Show & Conference event held at New Delhi, where more than 800 delegates from industry deliberated upon sustainable paints and coatings used by the automotive sector. Green coatings are environment friendly materials with focus on non-solvent borne, zero or low VOC contents in coatings. VOCs are the harmful components which form ground level ozone and smog, resulting in health hazards. Therefore, coatings with lower solvent content, waterborne coatings, high solid paints, powder coatings and radiation cured coatings are increasingly finding a market in both Industrial and decorative segments.
