A Town Hall meeting of the Vasant Vihar residents with the local MLA, Parmila Tokas, was held at Kalyan Kendra on Sunday, December 8, 2024. The meeting was organised by VVWA.
At the outset, Parmila talked about the various development works undertaken in Vasant Vihar from the constituency funds. Thereafter, a lively interaction followed.
The residents raised various issues, including encroachments, erratic water supply, sewage issues, unauthorised illegal parking of three-wheelers and taxis, cattle and stray dogs, resurfacing of roads, and so on.
The MLA heard all the issues patiently. She said that she would take up the matter concerning erratic water supply and replacement of worn-out sewage pipes with DJB and would ensure regular, time-bound water supply and the worn-out sewage pipes are replaced. She clarified that cleanliness, waste management, and encroachments are the aspects that come under the councillor. However, she would follow up on these issues since the residents had raised these issues with her. She would seek a meeting with Dy. Commissioner, South Zone, and discuss these issues along with VVWA Managing Committee members. As regards law and order issues, etc., she would speak to the concerned DCP and seek a resolution thereof.
She gave a list of the streets that are likely to be repaired next. She spoke at length about monetary issues due to the non-release of money from the Centre.
She said the development of Vasant Vihar is very important to her. Residents are free to contact her if they have any issues requiring resolution.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks, followed by high tea. The MLA had one-on-one conversations with many residents during tea time.
