As part of our ongoing commitment to the welfare of the Anand Lok community and its support staff, the Free Eye Check-Up Camp was planned and executed in collaboration with General Williams Masonic Polytechnic, Sangini Saheli NGO, and the Anand Lok Residents Association (ARA). Here’s how the initiative was organized:
1. Identifying the Need: The idea for the camp emerged from discussions around providing accessible healthcare services to domestic helps, drivers, part-timers, guards, and other support staff in our community. Recognizing the critical role of vision in their daily lives, a decision was made to focus on eye care.
2. Partnering with Experts: ARA partnered with General Williams Masonic Polytechnic and Sangini Saheli NGO to bring in qualified professionals and resources. These organizations provided the necessary medical expertise, equipment, and logistical support for conducting comprehensive eye examinations.
3. Planning and Coordination: Date and Venue: The camp was scheduled for Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 10 AM to 1 PM, ensuring it was convenient for support staff to attend. Dharam Vira Community Centre (DVCC) was chosen as the venue for its accessibility and capacity to host the event.
Resources: Arrangements were made for medical teams, prescription glasses, and follow-up support, including free cataract surgeries for those diagnosed.
4. Communication and Outreach: To ensure maximum participation, the event was widely communicated through notices, word-of-mouth among residents, and personal invitations to eligible individuals. Residents were encouraged to inform their domestic helps, drivers, and other staff about the camp.
5. Execution: On the day of the camp, a systematic process was followed: Registration counters were set up for attendees to sign in.
Participants underwent free eye examinations conducted by a team of professionals.
Those needing corrective eyewear received free prescription glasses on the spot.
Individuals diagnosed with cataracts were registered for free surgeries, with follow-up dates and transportation assistance arranged.
Outcome: The camp was a significant step in fostering community well-being and inclusivity. By ensuring that the support staff have access to essential healthcare services, Anand Lok strengthened its commitment to being a caring and proactive community.
This initiative reflects the collective spirit of the residents and their determination to make a positive impact on those who contribute to the smooth functioning of our neighborhood. Thank you to everyone who supported this cause!
