Majority Residents Oppose Constructing a Religious Structure in Sector Park
Subsequently 208 Residents Send Legal Notice to CEO Noida, DD Horticulture & UP Pollution Control Board Against Construction of a Religious Structure
The RWA‘s half-yearly general body meeting, which would have been a tame affair, turned out to be loud and fiery. This it seems took RWA by surprise because some resolutions which they had planned to get passed fell off due to heavy opposition.
The main point of discussion was not even mentioned in the agenda of the meeting, which was the construction of a religious building in the Sector. Fearing that this would come up in the meeting, residents who opposed the construction turned up in large numbers.
Resident SP Singh, quoting a news item in Samvada, asked the RWA executive outright if it was constructing a temple in the Sector. This set the ball rolling, first the RWA Secretary clarified that the RWA was not in any way connected to the construction of a religious place in the Sector.
One resident questioned the Secreatry’s presence in the meeting of the newly-formed Sanatam Dharam Mandir Samiti in the Children’s Park. Bagla Saheb reacted to this and said that any RWA executive committee member is also an independent resident and has the right to participate in any other non RWA function.
There was a fiery argument between the two groups. Ultimately, the group that was against the construction won the battle but left it evenly poised by saying that no illegal construction or encroachment should be allowed.
Unfortunately, Bagla Saheb’s resolution for construction of a legally constructed religious building could not be passed as that was also booed down by the big group against it.
After the meeting on 8 Dec, 280 residents, fearing that the newly-formed Sanatam Dharam Mandir Samiti would still try and influence Noida Authority, sent the following legal notice to CEO Noida, DD Horticulture & UP Pollution Control Board against construction of a Religious Structure (some excerpts):
This legal notice is being served on you for and on behalf of my 208 residents who are my clients and residents of Sector 15A Noida. The residents of Sector-15A, Noida are adversely affected by the actions of authorities, who are trying to encroach upon the park that is situated in Sector 15A Noida.
I have been informed by my client’s, that a group of few residents accompanied by outsiders, under the name and banner of an unregistered Sanatan Dharam Mandir Samiti, are planning to construct a religious structure by illegally encroaching on the Vrindavan park in Sec 15A Noida.
That in the 1st week of Nov these residents along with the outsiders tried to encroach upon the park situated in the market of Sec 15A Naida by felling 2 trees, at which time my clients made a complaint with the local police station and filed a representation as well.
That apparently, on the 1st Dec 2024 around noon, a number of persons held a meeting and accompanied by few persons, who represented themselves as officials of Noida authority, Horticulture Department and Police, carried out a demarcation by putting a fence, ropes and marked the area that is to be cleared for the purposes of raising a religious structure in the Vrindavan park.
My clients have also placed in my hand a representation dated 08th Nov, 2024 made to your office by around 200 Bonafide residents of the sector which contain the following request: “You are requested to ensure that no mete felling and cutting of trees, and construction of any kind takes places in the Green Belt, Green Areas, Designated parks in violation of Supreme Court and NGT guidelines.”
On behalf of my clients, I therefore call upon you to seriously consider the representations made to you by the residents of Sector 15A and also to instruct your offices to make sure that no such illegal encroachment or construction is carried out in any park, green belt, green area or open spaces and nor any such permission for construction is granted to anybody/ samiti .
