Whilst walking in C Block, Sector 40, I came across a pile of garbage at the entrance of the small park in C Block. This not only attracts cattle and dogs, but it is also a major source of flies, mosquitoes and insects, aside from giving our area a dirty appearance. It is particularly disappointing to see this in C Block, where some nature lovers have taken the initiative to manage the main park.
Upon enquiry, it was discovered that this garbage is being discarded by housemaids. When the garbage collector fails to turn up, it appears that some individuals find it convenient to dispose of their waste in this manner, without giving a second thought to hygiene and aesthetics. Alternatively, some people seemingly do not pay the garbage collector and instead rely on their maids to dispose of the waste, which has become a routine task for them.
It is truly pathetic to observe how we behave in civilised society and what values we impart to our children. I believe it is essential that we take responsibility for keeping our surroundings clean and also educate our household staff to do the same. Furthermore, the RWA should consider installing cameras at such locations and imposing fines on those found littering.
