Nandan Kanan Park & Water Pumping Site with Direct Access to 15A Should Be Considered
A section of the residents want a mandir in our Sector. They, and the RWA have been scouting around trying to identify an appropriate spot to construct it.
A few years ago, the area along the boundary wall at the T-junction of the road from Gate 2 (next to previous RWA Secretary Ashok Chaturvedi’s home) was rumoured as the spot being considered. But for some reason that plan was stalled.
A few months back, the RWA under the presidentship of DD Mishra, got the trees cut and the greenery of the Rajnigandha Market little park removed, and it erected a small cement platform. It was believed that a mandir was planned there. Environment activists of the Sector got upset with the way the green trees of the park were hacked down without even taking the necessary written permission of the authorities. They called the police and filed a complaint. RWA quickly withdrew, denied that they were constructing a mandir and called it instead a ‘beautification plan’. They began using it for organising camps for its karamcharis and staff members, and the activists called it an eyewash.
The search for a spot has again intensified but the problem is that no one (including the diehard devotees) for obvious reasons wants the mandir in front of their homes.
Let’s study the case of Sector 40: Twenty years ago, residents of the Sector decided to construct a mandir. They fought a long battle with the Noida Authority to allow them to construct it at an identified spot. They all (including Samvada Editor Jyoti Bhatia) sat on a dharna for a long time and forced the Authority to allow the construction.
Finally, a Shiv mandir and a Sai mandir next to it were constructed. The mandirs have become very popular and hundreds of devotees from all over Noida throng them every day. The place is very noisy and of course beggars, parking issues and traffic jams have become a daily nuisance for the residents. Many residents living in front of the mandirs have sold their properties at extremely low prices and run away to live in a more peaceful sector.
Now the same residents who had forced Noida Authority and sat on dharna are regretting their decision. They had thought that it will be a small Sector mandir that would be under their control, unfortunately, it was not so at all.
Keeping the above scenario in mind, our residents who are so keen to have one in the Sector should review their decision otherwise we all will land up in the same situation as the Club. It was conceived as a Sector residential Club, but it has become more of a non-resident Club and we all are not able to control hundreds of outsiders who throng the Sector every day to use it for all kind of reasons.
Ideally, the best spot for a 15A mandir would be right across the Sector in the Nandan Kanan Park with direct access from our Sector. The other spot could be next to the pumping station on the main road where the police booth has been dumped. Dr Mahesh Sharma who is today at the helm of the affairs in Noida and who is also very keen to have one, could get it done.
