This Diwali, Sector 41’s celebrations shifted from sector to block level, proving that community spirit can thrive despite the absence of a functional Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA). Enterprising residents took the initiative to organise block-level gatherings, showcasing their resilience. In J Block, residents enjoyed a day-long celebration, while A Block went all out with a dinner extravaganza, complete with lights, DJ, catering, decorations, and games.
A group of around 50 J Block residents spent a fun-filled afternoon in the block park, engaging in various games such as musical chairs, tambola, antakshari, solo dancing, and singing. The intimate setting, where everyone knew each other, created a free and enjoyable environment. Their inaugural attempt was a resounding success, paving the way for future events.
Meanwhile, A Block’s morning walkers joined forces to host a festive evening, attracting over 75 participants from adjoining blocks. The entire A Block park was beautifully lit, with tables set for dinner and conversation. A Diwali-themed wall decoration provided a perfect backdrop for photographs.Tambola, singing, and DJ performances ensured an entertaining evening, culminating in a memorable group picture with diyas. The success of these block-level celebrations has raised questions about the future of Sector 41’s Diwali Mela. Perhaps block-level events are the way forward? Alternatively, residents might prefer a combination of both.
This discussion leads to the long-overdue RWA elections. We invite residents to share their thoughts on this topic via WhatsApp to sector editors. Let’s initiate a “samvada” on it.
