Ladies have so many fasts for their children’s or husbands’ welfare because their whole life revolves around them. Karva Chauth is also a fast among them. It is a festival of love and sacrifice, which they celebrate with full enthusiasm for their husband.
Like every year, Wellington (WECA) arranged mehendi, bangles and matching stalls at W 3 Park on the 18th and 19th from 11 am to 11 pm. On 20th October, ladies fasted the whole day, without a drop of water.
To divert their attention from hunger and thirst and pass their time quickly, an entertainment programme was organised by some ladies. This programme is held in W 3 Park. Ladies gathered there at 11.30 and enjoyed till 1 pm. First game was Tambola with a little twist and it was arranged that way so that everyone could win the prize. After Tambola, Renu Jain presented a game in which Meenal won. Meera and Monika presented two more games, and Sushma Sahni won. The atmosphere was full of laughter and happiness, and the fasting ladies completely forgot their hunger and thirst.
Evening Pooja started at 4 pm at W 1 park. A big group of ladies, dressed up like a bride, wearing heavy clothes and jewellery gathered there with their Pooja thali and performed their traditional Pooja. After Pooja, they wished each other and returned home to wait for the moon.
