On October 10th adults and children of Ridgewood danced away merrily to the beats of music to celebrate Dandiya. Garbaa too was in evidence with the ladies attired in typical traditional costumes. Senior citizens too had a great evening by tapping their feet as many saw them doing so. There were many prizes also distributed for the best-dressed male, female, kid, dandiya queen & king to name a few. To add to the merriment many lifestyle & food stalls did roaring business. Food and other spicy dishes stalls were a hit with residents. It was indeed a night to remember, Ridgewood Governing Body member Ms. Vandita Gupta organized the function to perfection which attracted a large gathering.
Garba season came to end with Dussehra celebration on October 12th, when the Ridgewood community came together to celebrate the triumph of good over evil on Dussehra. The festivities featured the burning of effigies of Kumbhkaran, Meghnad, and Ravan, accompanied by a dazzling display of eco-friendly fireworks, minimizing toxic emissions. The event was a huge hit among children, who reveled in the excitement, although some younger ones required comforting due to the loud crackers. Senior citizens attended in large numbers, adding to the festive atmosphere. Food stalls enjoyed brisk business, with popular items including chaat, Chinese, and South Indian cuisine. The Ridgewood Board members, who organized and conducted the program, deserve special appreciation for ensuring a seamless and enjoyable celebration.
