Come monsoon each year, RD Tayal of R Block GK-1 would quietly plant tree saplings and herbal plants in the park he frequented. Over the years, fellow morning walk-ers would request him to plant a specific variety of plant, and he would gladly oblige. Over time, his passion grew, and he started mass plantation drives in other parks in the vicinity. He took up the greening of Samavar Club Lawns a few years back and transformed it for all to see and appreciate.
Tayal Ji’s initiative was noticed by many more concerned citizens, prompting him to start the ‘Tree Lovers Club’. The group started plantation drives in GK-I and surrounding areas. R Block’s Central & Tikona Park, DDA Pahari Wala Park opposite E-Block, Hemkunt Park, E Block Park, Mahavir Mandir Park, etc. have been the beneficiaries of his passion. The Tree Lovers Club has been gifting Tulsi Plants to residents of surrounding areas.
His initiative has been supported by GK-I Police Station under the present SHO Bhanu Pratap and his predecessor, Ajit Kumar Upadhayay. Tayal Ji says, “I have done this so our children can live in a good environment and get oxygen. Nature is God. I have taken responsibility to develop Arya Samaj Mandir Lawn as per their requirement.” Tayal invites all those wishing to be a part of the Tree Lovers Club to please contact him at 9810019999 or write to rdtayal@gmail.com.
