With a relentless pursuit, SBWS persuaded Ravi Verma, Malaria Inspector of Ward 173, to carry out DBC, anti-larva spray, focal spray, fogging, IEC activity with power spray tankers, etc. at regular intervals in S Block. Spray was done with power tankers and back-mounted spray machines regularly in the Nalla behind S Block. Door-to-door checking was done by DBC checkers, though many residents resisted the move, considering safety aspects. A few residents were issued challans for having dengue larvae on their rooftops. Many were issued notices by the department. Fogging was a hit; there was a huge demand from members, and more than 100 houses were covered. With all these measures, the spread of malaria and dengue was curtailed. Hardly any positive case was reported in S Block. Shika Rai, our councilor, played a very positive and active role.
