With the intention of promoting reading habits among students, Books For All (BFA) launched its Wall Hung Library (WHL) initiative, a unique project fea-turing 80 books in a bag that can be easily hung on a wall. This innovation aims to provide much-needed library resources to government schools that lack them. In August and September, 22 WHLs were successfully delivered to schools across Nagaland. The volunteers, most of them residents of Sector-93, are happy and satisfied to see how far they have reached.
The most exciting development is that, prior to handing over the libraries to school authorities, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan team conducted a short orientation session for teachers. This ensures that the WHLs are utilized to their fullest potential. It is encouraging for BFA to see teachers and schools taking ownership of the WHL initiative, which not only supports students but also brings pride to the donors who funded these resources. Each donation is being maximized, directly benefiting the end users — the students.
BFA’s WHL is a humble initiative, but it offers maximum return on a modest investment. At just Rs 10,000, an entire school can benefit from these books for at least three years. We are deeply grateful to the mentors and donors who continuously support us, both through funding and guidance.
If you would like to learn more about the WHL project or suggest a school in your locality that could benefit from a Wall Hung Library, please contact Gaurav Kumar at 70117 08539. We would be happy to ship a WHL and bring the joy of reading to even more students.
Thank you for your continued support!
