Many of the sectors of Noida have raised their voices on the neglected state of their surroundings. The roadside garbage, damaged roads, deplorable state of the parks, etc. are a matter of concern. The various departments of the Noida Authority, on their part, do attend to the complains made online but fail to execution their promises or do the stop-gap work that functions for only a short while.
One of the main reasons for this dissatisfied state is the frequent transfer in the various departments of Noida Administration, and absence of new recruitments to fill up the vacant positions. According to a recent report, 40% positions are lying vacant. Noida is a notified industrial township; many new residential sectors have come up and most of them muti-storied. The fast expansion of this industrial town demands speedy development of the infrastructure and equally intensive maintenance of the existing facilities.
Another point noted for the inaction by the departments is the frequent transfer of the officials. When a new officer takes charge, it takes time for him to settle down. As a result, there are delays in the approval of tenders and the movement of important file and decisions.
Some senior officials are given the charge of more than one department. Since most departments are understaffed, it is a challenge to depute responsibilities and attend to the pending jobs.
Noida city has expanded tremendously over the last 10-15 years. Many projects have been stuck due to revised rates and gap among the departments that together handle the project. Those work that are of basic requirement and need constant attention are hurriedly attended, which results in poor quality work.
In such a situation, the actual impact falls on the residents. Even after paying higher rates, to the administration, of the prime town of Uttar Pradesh they are not getting even the basic services. Unhygienic condition of the roadsides, the market, unsafe roads with potholes, poor quality of water supply are what residents face each day.
There is dire need to expand the administrative capacity of the Noida Authority, to take away the immense pressure on the existing machinery.
