After a heavy and consistent monsoon, the residents expect some sigh of relief from the ongoing collapse of civic services in the sector. Almost every essential service required to run and upkeep a civil society has come to a standstill, in the past few months. Be it water, electricity, drainage, road cleaning or park maintenance, everything seems to be out of gear for the reason best known to Noida Authority and Sector-50 Resident Welfare Association (RWA). Often failure of so-called Ganga water supply (although it is seldom supplied) and power cut in the name of maintenance followed by power failure due to avoidable faults nowhere justifies “NO POWER CUT CITY”.
The city of Noida, as a model city of Uttar Pradesh, is now becoming an indigestible narrative of the government to the suffering residents. Almost all the parks in the sector, so beautifully landscaped in the near past, have become eyesore to the visiting resident; also, fear of dangerous reptile and insects hovering all over. The maintenance of parks, needs much attention during rainy season, came to a standstill since the very 1st week of July with the beginning of monsoon. The rain God blessed us with consistent shower, but we could not take care of flora and fauna in our sector especially parks and green belt.
The only open gym of the sector, in the central park, is in the condition of despair as half the tiles recently re-laid are protruding to takeoff the base and many station are broken or damaged.
Although new decorative streetlights have added some décor to the sector, still at many places broken/unused old tiles are piled up that tarnish the image of illumination from the newly installed lights. Even some poles are yet to be fitted with light. The cuts in the roads to pass the cable for lighting are not repaired and shoddily filled up at many places leading to sudden jerking of vehicle. The trees are cut barbarously even when not obstructing the light pole and tree cuttings scattered all over for more than ten days.
Condition of the transformer enclosures is in pathetic state with wild grass, broken enclosures and ill-maintained distribution panels. Although RWA through their one-way WhatsApp group, on 22 August, stated that cleaning, repair and painting of all transformer enclosures and replacement of old rusted poles will start in next week but even after a month ‘the next week’ is yet to come.
At many places in the absence of covers, the open drains are blocked with garbage and debris. The roads are not cleaned either due to rain or holiday or strikes by sweepers.
The residents have become helpless since there is no system to lodge complaint, as RWA has not yet made the so-called ‘RWA 50 Sujhaab/Shikayat’ WhatsApp group interactive despite the issue raised in the AGM held on 11 August.
