Ganesh Chaturthi is a fun-filled festival in honor of Lord Ganesha. It spreads joy and unites people all over. Like every year, this year, Nidhi Lamba, resident of L-block, organized an eco-friendly Ganesh making workshop at her residence.
Young kids gathered together and were provided with eco-friendly clay to make their own Ganesha. Nidhi did a step- by- step process and taught all the participants to make sustainable idols using natural materials and techniques. The kids decorated the idol and the little mouse and carried it to their home.
The family and the kids did bhajans and aarti and also offered sweets and modaks to their Ganesha. Later, they did visarjan by immersing the idol of Ganesha in water.
It is believed that after the visarjan, God returns to his celestial abode. Many residents welcomed HIS divine presence to their homes as well. This is what Shaila Gaikwad has to share-
“Bringing Bappa home is like having our special guest with whom we spend 5 days – pampering him, offering delicious home-made prasad every day. The time of aarti morning and evening is so special with each and every member of the house or the neighbours become part of it. With singing the aarti, sound of bells, manjira and clapping of hands brings a very positive energy! We try and bring the neighbours together at our place. This way the new neighbours get to meet the old ones! After all Ganesh Chaturthi is a community festival where people come out and visit the place to get Bappa’s blessings!”
Some ritualistically celebrated for 1& 1/2 days, 3 days and some kept Ganesha for complete 10 days. The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi also denotes the significance of releasing pain and stress and of renewal of soul.
