Traffic Mess on CV Raman Marg

As a follow-up to last month’s reportage on the traffic mess on the Ring Road towards Ashram Chowk, the residents of Kalindi, Maharani Bagh, New Friends Colony and Friends Colony (East) find themselves in a traffic backup daily and battling traffic on the C V Raman Marg (during office hours) that leads up to the Ring Road.

Despite the flyover, these colonies have no respite from bad planning of Raman Marg traffic flow. It’s been seven-long years of waiting for the situation to improve! The traffic back-up down C V Raman Marg results in a waste of 25-40 minutes simply to reach the Ring Road. It is as a result of the unending flow of heavy vehicular traffic moving from Noida towards Faridabad. To make matters worse, the battery-operated buses aggressively try to overtake, often driving two-to-three abreast!

It is simply chaos and a nerve-racking experience driving from Raman Marg to reach the Ashram Chowk for a journey to Lajpat Nagar or Nizamuddin. It is survival of the fittest, complete jungle law. There are vehicles – two-wheelers, tempos, public transport buses, garbage trucks, three-wheelers, and cars- all aiming to travel in three different directions on a single stretch of the road without ‘lane bifurcation’. Traffic from extreme left crosses over to the extreme right to take a ‘U- turn’ for heading towards Outer Ring Road or Noida. At the same time, vehicular traffic coming from the DND flyover or Sarai Kale Khan are aggressively trying to cross over to the extreme left for an onward journey to Badarpur/ Faridabad.  The traffic aiming to move towards Lajpat Nagar or Nizamuddin is trapped in between these two flows. It’s a struggle each day to wade through this chaos and be on time at work!

The various road related agencies, the Central Road Research Institute and the police have miserably failed in finding a solution to this mess.
