On 4th September, the Panchshila Ladies Welfare Association held their first event after the formation of the new team. As is the tradition, the beginning of any event or a ceremony begins with a Ganesh Stuti and so did they. The Ganesh Stuti has a deep cultural significance of ensuring a trouble free journey ahead. The Ganesh Stuti was sung by the ladies of PLWA. It was followed by a mesmerizing performance by the disciples of the renowned Kathak Dancer Padma Shri Shovana Narayan. Her performances in the last over five decades in several national and international Festivals and before several Heads of States and Governments have been mesmerizing. The dancers, adorned in traditional lehengas and ghungroos, transported the audience to the enchanting world of Krishna. They beautifully depicted Krishna’s playful dance with the Gopis using mudras, their swift chakkars and intricate footwork synchronized with the beats leaving the audience spellbound. The use of abhinaya was particularly striking and the fusion of spirituality and artistry was a testament of the dance form of Kathak and its ability to narrate the life of Krishna with grace and energy. There was a thunderous applause and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the artists and Smt. Shovana Narayan. A scrumptious lunch and a delightful performance left the ladies with a sense of divine joy.
