Three Phool Walas, A Tikki Wala And A Panwari

When you think of entering a posh high rise apartment co-mplex, what comes to mind are fountains, green trees, vibrant shrubs, flowering plants, gardens and a driveway to the community gate.

The entry gates to Lotus Boulevard and Espacia (across Sector 104) feel as if you are driving through the Tuesday market. As I take a turn into the service lane, it is time to play some motocross madness with cars, pedestrians, staff crossing, potholes dug by Noida Authority, wrongly parked cars and what not!

Noida Authority has designated a part of the service lane in front of our society entry gates as ‘Vendor Zones’. The coconut wala, an early occupant of the space along with his two street pet dogs, has a permanent shack there and is now joined by a battery of vendors including a tailor, panwari, Tikki wala and ice cream vendors, who invite a whole lot of people to cross and buy from them.

The area has also become a parking zone for taxi drivers who are waiting for a ride on their app.

Couldn’t this vendor zone be placed just 100 meters away, between the Boulevard exit gate and the Century Apartment pedestrian gate? I am sure all of us can easily walk there and still have vendors for our convenience.

Having a vendor zone right outside two entry and exit gates is adding to the chaos of cars and people entering and exiting the societies, and this needs to be regulated.

LB and LBE can even work together to create a green patch in this area, cordon it off so that pedestrians crossing from across use the foot over bridge and create a more impressive entry and exit way.
