Thanks To Alert Guard, Helpful Beat Officer & Honest Maid
The incident in the words of Vinita Bhargava is reproduced here.
“On Tuesday, 13th Aug, 2024, I dropped two diamond rings, while getting down from my car. I was going to Guru Ji’smandir in S Block, G.K.1 & did not realize when the rings fell. It was around 4.15 pm & at 5.15 pm I realized I had lost my rings…. I went straight to the area where my driver had dropped me & checked with the sewadaars on duty if they had seen any rings on the street & I was informed that after I had left for the mandir, there was one help who had stopped & picked up something but they did not pay much attention to it as they were unaware of any specific issue till I mentioned to them. As advised by sewadaar, I then briefly checked with Paras (SBWS guard), from the Society office if they could check CCTV footage for me (there are four CCTVs provided by Delhi Govt. outside the four corners of SBWS office in the park). He asked me to give him time & I went back to Satsang. Later even Mrs. Julka, who stays near the crossing, assured me to come the next morning. So next morning on Wednesday 14th Aug…I went around 12.30 pm & asked Paras (SBWS Guard) to help me & he made me speak to M.K.Gupta, who is heading RWA office in S Block. 1. He immediately gave me the number of Parveen Kumar (assistant sub inspector & beat officer of S Block), who takes care of the area & upon his arrival shortly, he showed me the footage & we clearly saw one help, as per the description given by the sewadaars, who bent twice to pick up something. In fact, Parveen then confidently told me not to worry & he will do the interrogation & the woman would be found.
He asked me to come back around 4 pm. I left then, at about 1.40 pm…but to my utter surprise, before reaching my home, I got a call from Parveen to come back immediately.
Paras had an inkling as to who the woman could be & they checked around with the helps sitting together (in the park) & one of them acknowledged that she had picked up the rings & had brought these back with her as she was enquiring whom to give.
I am so grateful to everyone for showing interest & taking immediate action, which helped me in finding my diamond rings…Great work. Thank You! Sukrana Guru Ji Sahib.”
Ms. Bhargava called me later on & thanked me for all the help. She gave generous tips to guard Paras & the maid.
We narrated the incident at a police meet praising Parveen Kumar & guard Paras& also in one of the public meetings on Aug 15. Mrs. Gandhi of S 208 also gave cash reward to Paras. A good sense of “bhai Chara” & trust was created.
Incidentally let me also mention that a lot of lost & found items including an expensive watch, mobile phones, purses & cash have been recovered & returned to rightful owners by our residents & guards, in the past few years.
Explanatory notes in brackets are by me, for sake of clarity.
