The Walls that Cried: A Story of Neglect and Donas

Our community centre has been painted in bright colours. It looks very impressive and welcoming now. All the outer walls and the boundary walls have been painted fresh .The new curtains inside add to the look of the main hall.

Few days ago, as I was passing by, I noticed these piles of used Dona and pattal people threw here and there after eating Prasad / langar from the nearby temple. We need to do something about it soon. Collectively mandir management and RWA should find ways to curb this practice. One person throws and then second person and then third and so on. Large size dustbins can be kept at the designated area. Or the Prasad distribution can be done inside the boundary walls in reusable plates which can be washed by the user and kept at designated places/racks like we do in various religious places.

We need to constantly teach people to use sustainable clean practices for a healthy atmosphere.

These piles of garbage not only spoil the look of the area, they are breeding grounds for mosquitoes and bacteria in addition to adding tonnes of waste in the dumping grounds.
