Utkarshini Teej Utsav

The annual Teej celebration at the Ladies Club, Utkarshini, was a magnificent event that seamlessly blended devotion, cultural heritage, and vibrant performances. This year, the theme revolved around the majestic history of Rajputana queens and the mesmerizing songs and dances of Rajasthan, bringing to life the splendor of the desert state.

The festivities began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by our esteemed founder members Uma Agarwal, Usha Thakkar, and Rachna Singh, followed by a captivating dance performance by Dimple Gupta to invoke the gods. The program kicked off with a series of engaging games that had participants eagerly vying for prizes, and birthday wishes were extended to the celebrants. The nine emotions of Lord Shiva and Ma Parvati were beautifully portrayed by our talented members Reena Kapoor and Prerna Bansal, setting the stage for a vibrant folk dance by Archana Singh, Rekha Gargava, and Usha Sharma, welcoming the monsoon season, a key aspect of the Teej festival. The evening continued with a showcase of Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage through traditional folk dances such as Ghoomar and Kathputli, skillfully performed by the club’s cabinet members Roli Goel, Nisha Singh, Ruma Chopra, Aarti Khanna, Vinisha Malik, and Preeti Bhanot. The event also featured a melodious Teej song sung by Anuradha Pathak, Poonam Sharma, Rashi Rastogi, and Sharmila Goel, as well as captivating performances of Chirmi and Tera Tali dances by Ruchika Goel, Asha Singh, Malini Rastogi, and Prachi Bansal. The event was a tribute to the legendary Rajputana queens, known for their bravery, wisdom, and unwavering spirit. Each participant selected a queen to embody, sharing her tale of courage and sacrifice, transforming the evening into a celebration of the strength of women. Swati Goyal portrayed Rani Sanyogita, Renu Malhotra embodied Rani Padmavati, Shilpi Upmanyu represented Rani Jodhabai, and Reena Dagar beautifully portrayed Maharani Gayatri Devi. The bravery of Rani Hadi was powerfully depicted in a musical performance by Rakhee Agarwal, Alpana Singhal, and Saroj Singh. Throughout the event, our dynamic hosts Sangeeta Sinha, Nisha Singh, and Roli Goel captivated the audience with their eloquence, engaging presence, and flawless coordination. The evening reached its peak with a comical skit performed by Lali Singh and Sharmila Goel, followed by everyone dancing freely to the tunes of the DJ.

The Teej celebration at the Ladies Club was more than just a festival; it was a tribute to Rajasthan’s timeless legacy. By honoring the queens of Rajputana and showcasing traditional Rajasthani dances, the event not only entertained but also enlightened attendees about the grandeur of this magnificent state.
