Hariyali Teej the festival where people celebrate the monsoon season with singing, dancing, and delicious food, was celebrated at Silver Oaks on 7th August. This year, Silver Oaks cultural team decided to bring the festival home with a mini in-house Teej mela. Many ladies from all age groups, came together to celebrate the festival and gathered for a grand photo-op on the ‘Sawan Ka Jhula’ that was set up in the lush green lawn outside the community centre. They enjoyed swinging, snapping pics with plenty of smiles, feeling like they were in some Yash Chopra Bollywood musical. With their outfits in various shades of green, everybody practically channeled Sridevi’s iconic charm.
The residents turned the community centre into a mini market fair. There were rakhi stalls, gifting options, and jewelry, making it a one-stop shop for all the rakhi festival needs. The amazing Silver Oaks home chefs also dished out everything from ghewar and phirni to baked yogurt, cookies, cake slices, and dry spices, making it like a gourmet bazaar for belly-filling festive treats. Outside the community centre, there was a chat wala serving up spicy snacks – tikki, gol gappes, etc. that perfectly matched the festive spirit of the day. The guests were welcomed with fragrant gajras – because nothing expresses ‘Indian festival ready’ better than flowers in the hair. A few minutes of rain tried to make a surprise appearance, but it didn’t stand a chance against the unstoppable spirit of the ladies – if anything, it just added to the awesome monsoon vibe! Armed with smiles and umbrellas, they were all set for fun. As the crowd slowly gathered, the energy started bubbling up, and soon enough, fun and exciting games started that got everyone involved. The highlight of the day was the ‘Teej Queen’ contest, where two fabulous queens were crowned – one from the adult category and one from the senior category. And the cherry on top was the royal treatment to the nails by a Nail Studio who gave free nail art to all the ladies who joined in the celebration.
Handmade Magic by Neha sponsored the gifts, adding a touch of handcrafted charm to the celebration, while a hair Studio stepped-in with vouchers for all the winners – because nothing says to women that ‘You are Fabulous’ like a voucher for a professional ‘Glam-Up’! The evening was filled with many unforgettable moments and lots of fun and laughter. As a grand finale, the rain gods decided to bless the guests again with a heavy shower! Because honestly, what’s a Teej celebration without rain??
