Colony turned into mini Gujarat
Inputs by Meenakshi Chanda
ANRWA decided to organize a fun-filled dandiya night for its residents. 30th September 2022 turned out to be the most spectacular dandiya night ever with the participation of 500 to 600 people. It seemed as if the mini state of Gujarat had formed in the colony.
Departing from the regular event of holding a Mata ki chowki, the ANRWA, this year under the leadership of President Deepti Gulati decided to hold a Dandiya night which would see programs presented by the children and the residents of Anand Niketan. ANRWA had provided dandiya sticks for all those who did not possess a set. Many residents carried their own dandiya sticks too.
The events started with the presentation of the tiny tots below the age of 5 years who danced beautifully to the tune of dandiya raas. The little ones looked adorable in their Dandiya outfits and there was not one face in the audience that was not awed by their performance.
Second performance was by the girls aged between 5 to 19 years. The dance was beautiful and rhythmic clink of dandiya resounded in the evening. After this the ladies of Anand Niketan started dancing to the beat of dandiyas. The ladies had prepared for days in advance and the program enthralled the audience. After this the residents of the colony formed groups and enjoyed dancing to the Dandiya beat; this continued late into the night till each and everyone was exhausted.
The dances were followed by sumptuous dinner which included a variety of cuisine as well as “vrat ka khana” for all those who were fasting. It was one of the most enjoyable nights in a long time. We look forward to many such evenings in the future.
