Independence Day Celebration With A Difference In GPE

This year Green Park Extension residents celebrated Independence day with honor, dignity and with a spectacular performance. It imbued mixed emotions consisting of cultural dance, ribbon cutting of the bench installed and homage paying to our three Senior colony residents, who in the recent past made transition to the other world, by planting saplings by their family members in the K block Park. Ruchi Rajan, H38 2nd floor provided the three Tree saplings. Our gratitude to her!

The program started with a flag hoisting ceremony. Flag was hoisted by Mr Jinendra Jain followed with everyone singing the National Anthem. Gyandeep Growth Foundation’s eleven (11) kids namely: Kajal, Riya, Julie, Nidhi, Tulsi, Sidhi, Anjana, Zigar, Navneet, Rashmi and Meenakshi… in association with Arya Samaj Mandir, presented an awe -inspiring dance performance on a patriotic song. All the core members  present, have been untiringly working since past 17 years, giving value based education to  underprivileged children of our colony.

Mrs Kokila Jain (EC member) while she was alive had gifted a bench to the RWA in memory of her late Father, Sarwarath lal Jaini, a Badminton player,  and a National  Awardee.  The Red Steel bench ribbon cutting was done by Mr Jinendra Kishore Jain, (Kokila’s husband) his daughter Mrs. Meetu Jain Nagpal and son-in-law Mr. Manoj Nagpal.

Next a tree plant was sown in the ground in the memory of Kokila Jain by her husband Jinendra, Meetu Jain Nagpal and Mr. Manoj Nagpal. Onlookers watched with moist eyes yet smiling faces. Next Mr Nakul Sharan and family planted the tree plant paying homage to his father Retd. Lt.Col.Brij Bhushan Sharan…an emotional moment for all to witness. Finally Mr.Manoj Nagpal planted the tree plant into the soil accompanied by his mother and wife paying homage to his father Mr.P.N.Nagpal.

All in all it was a program of patriotism and nostalgia weaved together.

After the flag hoisting and tree plantation everyone moved towards the Community Center for the GBM.

Light snacks and tea followed the General Body meeting.
