After a gap of nearly five years, DC (WA) Club Annual Swimming Gala was held once again amidst the usual excitement of young and older contestants alike on July 28. Once again, the pool’s pristine sparkling waters were ready to welcome the eager participants, with the pool area too colorfully festooned with balloons and lights which leaned a festive air.
Gala was organised by Vibha Khanna Rastogi along with the Swimming Chairman Vijay Bhardawaj. Members were very happy to see the age -old tradition of the gala being kept alive and taken forward. Swimmers came forward and pitched in to form a team and did the judging of the event.
Young competitors were as young as five years, and the eldest was above 80 years.
Senior citizens like J.B Sharma, KD kochar, and Col Pradeep Kapoor were very sporting and came forward to take part in the events and inspired the youngsters to take part too. Shivika Bagga, Vrishti, and Sania Chauhan won the first three prizes in the 5-6 age group brackets, respectively. Some senior citizens of the colony were requested to give away the prizes to the winners. All winners were given medals, certificates and gift vouchers of the club coffee shop.
A special mention to Dushyant(aka Chintoo), the pool in charge, who took special care to make proper arrangements for the gala to go off smoothly. All in all, it was a well-organised event. All thanks to the club committee.
