We discussed how our internal road is a speed bre-aker-free racing track designed to give drivers the ultimate thrill. But there is more than just racing going on – there are athleticism tests at play, during something as banal as your evening walk.
Let’s go through the sporting events at play!
The Manhole Marathon– In this sport, participants must dodge open manholes dotted throughout. It is atest of agility and sharp eyes as walkers navigate their way.Distracted by your phone? Into the manhole with you!
The alert PCPH team quickly fixed some open manholes last week – but leave it to FMG to keep the track exciting, with many more manholes all around.
Debris Dash– In this, walkers must maneuver around construction debris scattered on the roads. That is the price of development – having to avoid tractors, cement mixers and random bricks. The bricks do come in handy, though, for the next sport…
Puddle Plunge – There is this one spot where water always accumulates, every time it rains. It has been years; it shall stay that way forever. Consistency is key! How to get around? Donot worry, carry some bricks with you to build a path for yourself.
Barricade Bolt– Here, our participants face barricades that force them into the middle of the road. There is no clear sidewalk; so, they must share the narrow lane in the middle with autorickshaws, speeding cars, bikes, and trucks.
It is a dash that demands quick thinking and swift movement.
Garbage Gauntlet– Next, we have garbage bins scattered everywhere. Walkers must hold their breath and push through, making it a test of endurance.
Parking Peril– Finally, with cars and bikes parked on the road, walkers are forced into the middle of the street yet again. Having vehicle parking is fine – it is a necessity – but combine this with the barricades placement and you have the ultimate multi-obstacle challenge.
And right at the entrance, too, because it is exciting when you have to face every single entering vehicle.
In the Township Olympics, every day is an adventure. Our participants face these challenges head-on, showcasing their incredible determination.
So, to all our walkers, we salute you. Your daily journey is nothing short of an Olympic feat. Let’s hope for a future where these ‘sports’ are no longer a part of our lives. But till then, it is all about becoming faster, higher, stronger!
