Meghdutam Rangmanch invites theatre lovers and amateur actors in Noida, groups of residents from within an apartment, or a group of theatre enthusiasts from a cluster of apartments, and also from schools, colleges, clubs and other associations, to present one-act plays in Hindi or English during the Meghdutam Fest Nov 2024 (conducted annually in mid-November).
The plays could belong to a variety of genres such as comedic, dramatic, romantic, mystery, historical, educational or a social commentary (such as a nukkad natak), experimental (such as a play with alternative endings), a slice-of-life play, or from a script having a mix of elements from each. The play could also be self-written. It should have at least five characters.
Since the last two years, Meghdutam Rangmanch has endeavoured to introduce community theatre in Noida. Sarla Adhikari of Sector 41 staged the popular Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja in 2022 after conducting a children’s theatre workshop, and in 2023 mentored the ladies of Crescent Apartment from script to stage. Sujata Tripathi of Sector 93 presented Dumroo, a musical comedy performed by children and senior citizens.
We intend to hold a meeting and workshop in the last week of August to discuss the format of the event and evolve guidelines for participating groups. You may join individually or in groups. There is no fee. We will announce the date and venue shortly. Please get in touch with Kapil Pandey (9810757852), Sarla Adhikari (9891667762 whatsapp), or Vinod Agarwal (9899437350) by 21 August.
