Community Safety Alert: Swift Response Prevents Alleged Abduction Bid

Every evening, a number of kids visit the P-1 Park to play and have fun. On 3rd July, a strange incident occurred when a six-year-old child, Aman (name changed for privacy), narrowly escaped an alleged attempted abduction. Just days earlier, Aman had mentioned to his parents about a new friend he had made in the park.

Few days before this incident, this man had made an unsettling appearance at Aman’s home, asserting familiarity and attempting to engage with the child in a manner that raised immediate concerns. The family was shocked to discover that this ‘new friend’ was a grown-up man in his late thirties. Despite the family’s reluctance this man persisted in his attempts to befriend Aman, referring to him affectionately as “my dost, my dost.”

On the fateful evening, the man approached Aman again, persuading him to accompany him to his residence against the explicit wishes of Aman’s caretaker. The man then took Aman to a house in P-2 lane. When the staff accompanying Aman created pressure and insisted on returning that he was able to persuade and returned Aman to his own home. By which time Aman’s parents had already raised an alarm and started searching for Aman and their staff.

After this, the bewildered parents immediately contacted the local N Block police station.

The Police responded swiftly upon receiving the written complaint and apprehended the man and prevented a potentially disastrous outcome. The police not only reprimanded the individual but also took measures to contact the guesthouse owners and ensure he was removed from his position as caretaker at the guesthouse, eliminating any potential future risks he might pose to the community.

“This incident underscores the critical role of community vigilance and prompt action,” remarked a concerned resident. “We commend Aman’s parents for their quick response and the proactive involvement of concerned residents, which undoubtedly prevented a tragedy,” remarked another resident.

In response to this alarming incident, we urge all residents of DLF Phase 2 to remain vigilant, especially when children are playing in public spaces. Parents and caretakers are encouraged to educate children about stranger danger and report any suspicious behavior immediately to the authorities.
