The months of May and June this year made the residents of Gurugram endure an extended period of extreme heat, with the city experiencing relentless high temperatures. Repeated alerts from IMD (The India Meteorological Department) highlighted the severity of the situation; temperatures exceeded 45 degrees Celsius for weeks.
In the wake of the increasing heat in the city, the city administration had to issue orders directing RWAs / employers to ensure adequate facilities for workers. The gap, however, between publicly made statements and the realty of their implementation on ground is, however, known to all of us.
The criticality of the hour and the urgency to act to protect the flora and fauna in our two parks in Aspen Greens(AG) block, for convenience nomenclature as “Big” and “Small” AG Parks, was needed and the residents of AG did not hesitate to proactively rise to the occasion. It became important for the residents of the Block to ensure that the health of the people who diligently look after these parks continues to stay protected.
A humanitarian initiative taken by residents led by Vivek Chaturvedi and Deepa through Whatsapp messages and the prompt response from the residents in promptly generating a daily roster to ensure that the workers remain hydrated with cool/cold drinking water is indeed praiseworthy. The message with an indicative roster is tabled below and speaks volumes for the compassion and voluntary actions of the residents. A right step towards healthy and collaborative community living! Truly Nirvana!!
