Since the last one year or more, MCG had put out a notification for all pets especially dogs to be registered with MCG. The process being quite cumbersome, many pet parents were finding it difficult to get the needful done.
The RWA of RP2 arranged for a Pet registration camp at the condominium to help the pet parents complete the paperwork. The team from Pet Pulse, the agency assigned by MCG to do the registration on their behalf visited the campus on Sunday 23rd June 2024. Almost 20 pet registrations were completed. Residents of adjoining condominiums were also invited to take advantage of the camp and a few residents of Hamilton Court and Windsor Court came to submit the documents. Some residents of Ridgewood estate also visited to submit documents or collect their registration cards.
We spoke to some of the pet parents to know their reaction. The pet parents were quite appreciative of the RWA for having arranged for the Pet Registration Camp. However, they were critical of MCG for the planning and implementation of the process. While the concept of registration of the pets is good, however, it being an annual affair is quite cumbersome. There are no additional facilities provided in lieu of the registration process for eg. Dog Parks and play areas. As per the rules of MCG, the pets are to be neutered/spayed once they reach the age of 4 years, a rule which most parents don’t agree with. There is very little being done to vaccinate or control the population of stray dogs which is a menace to the surroundings. One of the biggest pinch point was the registration being an annual affair which means an additional burden of expense on the pet parents.
