With the growing population in DLF-1 and new builder floors getting developed, parking is slowly becoming the most argued issue between residents whether its on ground or over WhatsApp.
Recently, a resident from A Block Ext. alleged that her household help was assaulted, threatened and abused by their neighbours living in the same building complex, over a parking issue. The issue is not new and similar incidents have taken place earlier as well. The A Block Ext. RWA also tried to intervene but with no resolution, the two parties were asked to take the legal course and file a complaint with the police.
One plot and three different families with not enough parking gives rise to such arguments that turn violent. Residents living in posh colonies of South Delhi and Noida have even come to blows over parking spots.
For homes that are built with stilt parking have a different issue of being blocked by the car behind them, which belongs to another occupant of the building. Whoever parks in front has to call the neighbours to remove their car. Another matter of contention when choosing parking slot.
It’s important that new home buyers have very clear and straight forward guidelines and terms with the builders and their sale deeds, on who gets to park where. Incase of an issue, residents also need to be mindful and sensitive about one another. The welfare bodies can intervene only to a certain extent, at the end of the day one has to take a legal course incase the issue is not getting resolved.
