During the last few months and especially in May and June, Def col residents are facing acute water shortage which is resulting in spending additional money for the water tankers.
There are many water and sewerage lines opened by the DJB persons in which leakage issues are reported. These leakages are adding to the woes as the drinking and sewer watergets mixed to produce foul smell in the drinking water which is a big health hazard. The residents keep complaining to authorities but as usual there is no action to resolve it by anyone and residents keep buying water tankers from the illegal vendors. When we discussed this matter with the DJB teams, they were quite careless to say that it happens and beyond their control.
Why are shortages happening
1) There are many residents, who waste water by washing cars with pipes for hours, washing stilt parkings, watering plants or splashing water on roads.
2) The water keeps overflowing from the tanks as there is no sensor etc. installed to control water from overflowing.
3) Taps are left open for hours in the gardens.
4) Only 2 % use water harvesting in our colony.
The water is a basic necessity but if not used properly, then these shortages will surely be seen more frequently. The RWA needs to keep a tight check on the careless residents and report to the authorities for challan etc. Lastly, we at Samvada humbly request the
residents to please use water for your important needs only. Try to not waste water and install water harvesting plants to recycle water for your own use.
