In early morning of May 7 around 8.00 am a young regular morning walker from E block who had finished his usual daily walk had just stepped out of C block park from a small gate near the residence of RWA Secretary and President, suddenly realized that his gold chain was snatched by two helmet wearing motorcycle riders who sped and vanished before the gentleman could realize what had happened. It was a very well-planned operation as the culprits knew that there is no security guard in the park and during this time there is no security guard at gate no 3 and 4 of C block which they would have used to enter and exit the C block. An FIR was registered at the police station and appropriate action is being taken. The incident has left residents and morning walkers in shock and fear.
This is not the first time such an incident of chain/ purse snatching has happened in GK1. The question it raises is on the role of RWA in preventing such incidents. RWA’s need to review their priorities. For residents, particularly Women and Senior citizens priority is Security, Safety, Peace, Health and Quality of Life.
RWA’s need to review whether they should allocate higher resources to meet the above expectation of women and senior citizens, especially during hours when many of them come out for morning/ evening walks.
