The fact that the elevated road bordering Sector 26 (facing Nithari) is getting resurfaced in batches is well known to all residents. Those using the road say that the traffic has been crawling and there is an increased vehicular presence on the arterial roads. The situation worsens during the peak hours, i.e., from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
As per news reports, this chaos should end soon, as the last phase of resurfacing the elevated road has begun. For this, traffic movement is restricted from Sector 31/25 loop to Sector 18. (For reference, the work on resurfacing the elevated road started on April 7 and was expected to be over in 45 days.)
The elevated road was inaugurated in 2017 to ease traffic congestion for motorists heading towards Ghaziabad and Greater Noida from Noida and vice versa. The road also eased traffic around residential areas in sectors 33, 23, 25, 27, 26, 28, 29, and 31, among others. But after six years, the road has become dilapidated and riddled with potholes, causing problems for commuters.
The good news for many residents is that the weekly Tuesday market has shifted closer to Sector 26 Noida. While ladies are happily picking up their weekly supply of vegetables and fruits within walking distance, this shift is bad news for some C-block residents whose houses are on the main road.
