I recently got a chance to interview Rachna Vasudeva (T35 – 703) who is the Zomato Face of Noida. But how did she get there? Let’s see what her journey looked like.
After completing her graduation from Delhi University, Rachna began her career at the Taj Mansingh Hotel as a Front Office Assistant. She moved to United Airlines and Maurya Sheraton in the subsequent years during which she also got married to the love of her life.
When she had her son, Rachna dedicated herself to family for a few years. She wanted to be around for her son till he was a little grown up. “After 12 years, I had a daughter too.” The children brought her immense joy.
But Rachna utilised this family time too. She started a small business of making and selling imitation jewellery. “In a few years, my son was away studying in the UK and my daughter too was grown up.” During the COVID era, she and her daughter began a YouTube channel called Rachna Vasudeva to make and share videos for people’s awareness.
And then, Noida got lucky when Rachna moved here, from Delhi. She got an opportunity to be a brand ambassador for an organic skincare brand. “I started doing exhibitions.” One day, she filled a form for a Mrs India Subcontinent 2024 pageant.
Rachna’s audition at the Shangri-La Hotel entailed her giving an introduction and demonstrating her talents. The audition panel told her they would let her know if she was selected. “I walked out of there not too sure, but it was a chance worth taking.”
Busy with her personal and professional duties, Rachna put the audition at the back of her mind till, one day, her son looked up from the phone and exclaimed, “Mom, you’re selected for the pageant!” Her phone was full of congratulatory messages from her friends.
Rachna was shocked. But she did not have bandwidth to brood over this. “I had a complete journey of the pageant coming up – grooming classes, makeup sessions, finale trials and ramp walk sessions.” It was another new beginning for her.
Rachna’s son and daughter were her support pillars throughout and encouraged her to give her best. At the pageant finale in Kasauli, she won the title of Mrs Glowing Skin, Mrs India Subcontinent 2024. “What an achievement!”
When Rachna returned home with a crown on her head, her family was surprised but happy. Flowers and congratulations poured in. “My social media was flooded.” Nothing could have been better than this. Rachna’s heart was filled with humility; her head was held high; and her happiness knew no bounds.
Since winning the title, Rachna feels more confident and realises that age is just a number. It is up to us to feel and make what we want for ourselves. “Today, I do advertisements for different companies.” She is associated with Zomato as their Face of Noida.
