We, a group of senior citizen friends with our better halves, recently went on a health trip to VedaLife Resort near Rishikesh.
Rishikesh weather was congenial with evenings being slightly nippy. VedaLife is an exclusive haven situated in the Himalayan foothills over 250 acres surrounded by peaceful Sal forests, overlooking the spiritual town of Rishikesh and the Ganges river valley.
VedaLife is nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas at a height of about 4000 ft. It integrates Ayurveda and Yoga with international wellness experiences along with healthy organic cuisine to restore balance and harmonize energy.
VedaLife is a luxury wellness destination. It is a three-star health resort with decent infrastructure.
The VedaLife focus is to rejuvenate your body with a regimen of naturopathy and Ayurveda. The emphasis is on physical treatments rather than drug therapies. This is complemented with a diet regimen. Its motto, aptly, is RELAX – RENEW – REVIVE.
On the first day, we were examined by a team of doctors which included a naturopath and an Ayurvedic physician. Our history was heard; a diet cum treatment plan was prescribed for the next seven days. These were customised as per body’s requirement.
The diet was bland – a little difficult to accept but one did get used to it in a day or so. Millets were the norm.
Treatments included therapies like various massages, Shirodhara, Anemas, Kunjal therapy, Colon wash, mud bath, steam bath, facial massages and a host of other treatments especially customised as per our body’s needs.
The day started at 4 AM with eye wash, jal kriya, anema followed by a havan, and then Yoga & Pranayama conducted by experts in the domain. Post breakfast and lunch used to be therapies which were about two hours in the forenoon and about an hour and a half in the afternoon.
Evenings were full of activities like nature walks, singing and dancing sessions and small little fun games.
It was one of the best trips I have ever had. We were not only bodily detoxified but also mentally and spiritually rejuvenated. Even if we follow just 25% of what has been prescribed in the detailed discharge summary given to us, I think it would make our lives much more liveable.
In this digital life of ours, I would recommend this trip not only for senior citizens but also for the GenZ. Sure, everyone reading this would be interested in the financials involved. I would only say it was peanuts for the value it imparted!
