Hanuman Janmo-tsav, or Hanuman Jayanti, is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of the deity Hanuman. A devoted follower of Shri Ram, He was instrumental in rescuing Shri Ram’s beloved wife Sita from the grasp of the demon king Ravana. Hanuman Janmotsav is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Chaitra, Chaitra Purnima. It usually falls in the month of March/ April. This year, it was celebrated on Tuesday, 23 April. It was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion in our Wishtown too. Ladies gathered in large numbers at the Sai Temple in the afternoon. Sundar Kaand and Hanuman Chalisa paath were followed by a few Bhajans and Aarti. The prasad, including sweets, toffees and boondi prasad, was distributed to all devotees. A cake too was cut to commemorate Hanuman Ji’s birthday. We pray to Him and look forward to many more celebrations together.
