Friendship club meeting was held on 13th April and around 40 members gathered to get knowledge from the speaker Dr. RITU 9891636667, a learned Dietitian, about millets. She gave very pertinent information regarding the use of millets in daily life as well as how to go about using them or what to do before consuming them.
Inhalecture she elaborated that Bajra should be soaked in water for 4-5 hours before making roti. She also laid stress on consumption of sugarcane, gur, shakar, sprouts, sattu, specially jaun (barley) with salt or shakkar in summer. Fresh fruit should be consumed of a single type at one time and not mix fruit chat type, curd etc.
Food should be chewed properly so that the saliva is mixed in it before swallowing, as it helps in digestion. Everyone needs to keep their weight under control. Once you become fat it is very difficult to get rid of the fat. Plastic bottles must not be used to store water as water gets contaminated with plastic particles.
Shanti Sharma recited a poem on ‘Ma’. Harinder sang a punjabi folk song on Baisakhi – ‘ajj manava ge…Kavita also sang a song that she used to sing as a child.
Navratri snacks and makhana kheer was enjoyed by all.
