Springtime always brings a lot of colours coming to life… As life wakes up from its long and dull wintery stupor, new leaves begin to emerge, lots and lots of insects suddenly add the buzz, and of course, one always looks forward to the beauty of the flowers.
This time, in AOH, the beauty of the flowers has been compounded thanks to the fantastic work by the Horticulture department, and the wonderful gardeners working every day! All the flowers have been grown in our very own nursery (near T4/Commercial Gate), and then transplanted into all the patches and nooks all around!
The most abundant and most extensively flowering ones have been the Petunias, in all beautiful hues from white, to pink, to peach, to purple and red, and even striped! All of us who grow flowers love Petunias for their consistency in producing beautiful blooms.
And with the care and space they have got, we saw blooms akin to large bouquets!
Aside from these, the other consistent bloomers have been the Gazanias, the Snapdragons, and the White Alyssum. Of course, with Tecoma, Oleander, Plumbago and our forever consistent Bougainvillea, colours simply abound everywhere.
For a short while, we also witnessed the beauty of the Ice Plant, and now we see the lovely Hollyhocks strutting about with great pride.
As the summers approach, we know this beauty is not going to last, but we still hope for a succession of beauty with the ever-so-dominant hues of the Red Silk Cotton Trees (Semal), the Bauhinias (Kanchana), Jacaranda, and of course, the ever consistent, Bougainvillea.
We can already see bits of Moss Rose and Purslane saplings coming up, plus our regulars of Gudail and Ixoras ready to bloom, and like last season, we hope they too, will provide a beautiful sight as the sun rises further!
