Stories are bridges of connection. They connect us to our pasts and presents, paving ways for a future of hope. They connect us to ourselves, to everyone else and everything that breathes. Stories make us a community, and they make us who we are. And one can’t agree more with English writer, Philip Pullman when he famously said, ‘After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.’
The storytellers of Delhi Storytellers’ Tribe have joined hands with Meghdutam Rangmanch, Noida to host Kahaani Square, an evening of stories on the last Sunday of every month at Meghdutam Park, Sector 50, Noida! This journey of building bridges of connection through stories began at 5pm on 31 March with storytelling performances by Shalini V Bansal and Seema Wahi Mukherjee, both founding members of Delhi Storytellers’ Tribe.
The evening started with Sunehri Chidiya, a sing-along-tale of a cheerful little bird, who is on a soaring adventure filled with friendships, trust and unexpected twists. Shalini regaled the audience with her musical interludes and colourful props that interacted with the children during the course of her performance. Shalini’s fun-tale was followed by Legend of the Rainbow, performed by Seema, where a childlike banter between the colours, highlighted the message of peaceful co-existence. Seema’s participatory approach to storytelling was a delight to watch.
The Kahaani Square performances will be open to all. More details can be sought by writing to DST at delhistorytellerstribe@gmail.com. Also register yourself with Meghdutam Rangmanch for timely updates on forthcoming events (Whatsapp 9899437350). Hope to see you in the last week of April for another round of Kahaani Square!
