Aawaz Volunteers’ Clear Roads, Storm Water Drains & Empty Plots

Aawaz Volunteers Social Group -DLF-2 (Patronized by Vipin Yadav – Social Worker) Aawaj Volunteer Group initiated by Jyotsana Vipin Yadav & Team to improve civic amenities in DLF 2 persuaded DLF maintenance to improve the cleaning of Roads, Storm water drains and empty plots.

The Deep Cleaning of each block on every Wednesday on a rotation basis was started by DLF and has been carried out for the last 4/5 months. Partial improvement on road sweeping /storm water drain is visible.

Empty plots Messy Residents keep cribbing regularly about the messy empty plots. The complaint is genuine. let us ponder on this issue — Why do they remain messy?

1. It has been observed by Aawaj Volunteers that after cleaning of empty plots, a few nearby residents/maid-servants dump the garbage /kitchen waste/abandoned material of the house in the Empty plots which makes it again dirtier even after some cleaning by DLF labours.

2. Even the Builders / Builder workers are also throwing Garbage / Construction waste in empty plots regularly.

3. This way, we are responsible for making dirty /messy empty plots to some extent.

Appeal

1. Aawaj Volunteers Group appeal/request with folded hands to all respected residents to stop throwing waste/garbage in the empty plots. Give clear instructions to your maids to Stop throwing Garbage/kitchen waste in Empty plots.

2. Make a Regular Practice to hand over the Garbage / Kitchen waste to Waste collectors only and abandoned material should be given to Kabaadi Wala.

3. Please also ensure that Builders / Builder’s workers also do not throw the Waste / Construction waste in Empty Plots (Take the Help of QRT Team in this matter).

4. The Service Provider will not clean the messy empty plots on a daily basis (Not Practical / Too expensive) The only practical solution to keep our Colony neat and Clean is for all respected residents should understand the importance of civic hygiene and follow Self Discipline (Unhygienic condition can lead to health hazards too)

Suggestions

Aawaz Volunteers Group is suggesting following an action plan basis the last 3-4 months follow up / interaction with DLF Team/observations in different blocks to get out of this menace.

1. Awareness Campaign: We need to conduct awareness campaigns block-wise, and lane-wise in small groups to highlight the importance of civic responsibilities to the residents and in turn they (residents) educate/give instructions to their maidservants and attendants.

2. Vigilance: Residents come forward to form vigilance teams in each block to ensure compliance and humbly talk to the offenders especially to Builders / Construction Workers / Maid Servants. 3. Disciplinary Action: Repeated offenders/ culprits (maidservants / domestic attendants / Construction Workers ) should be subjected to some disciplinary action like fine, or debar entry in DLF Phase-2.

Key Area of Concern:

We have two service providers namely MCG and DLF for sanitation, sweeping of roads, garbage cleaning etc. Both of them have shortcomings as follows-

1. MCG: Most of the time they are on Strike, casual approach, only 20% – 30% of workers report on work, No Proper Supervision. (The inefficiency of MCG speaks volumes as is depicted in the news/picture attached).

2. DLF: Deployment of manpower, tractor trolley, rickshaws, and equipment for tree pruning (ladders/cutters) are just half of what is required in DLF Phase-2 which is growing To Start an Awareness campaign, Vigilance, disciplinary action etc. We need more volunteers in the entire DLF2.
