Holi was celebrated in great style in Vasant Vihar this year. The celebrations kicked off with the celebration of Holika Dehan a day before the festival of colors.
The traditional bonfire was lit at Kalyan Kendra – a ritual symbolic of victory of good over evil on Sunday, 24 March 2024. People offered their prayers by going around the holy fire chanting mantras for the welfare of their families and near and dear ones. Tea and snacks were served on the house.
The function was organized by the Vasant Vihar Welfare Organization (VVWA).
Deviating from the age-old tradition of celebrating Holi in Kalyan Kendra, this year Holi celebrations were held in the Vasant Vihar Club. The members were greeted at the entrance with showering of flowers on the sound of beating of Drums by the musicians from Rajasthan dressed in their traditional Rajasthani attire. Further ahead, the main venue for the celebration of Holi was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Members greeted each other with ‘Happy Holi’ and applying ‘Chandan Tikka’. The venue was supercharged with the Holi fervor.
There were live dance performances by the dance troupes from Mathura and Vrindavan enacting the eternal and divine love of Radha and Krishna.
The soul behind the organization of the magical event was none other than Sindhu Misra, wife of Deepak Mishra, President of the Society, and the Club. Sindhu Mishra is a pre-eminent Bharat Natyam dancer and a Dance scholar of repute. Sindhu was previously the deputy secretary of Sahitya Kala Parishad. Currently, she is running her own Bharat Natyam Institute at LTG, Mandi House.
It was a Holi with fun-filled moments, delicious sweets, and beautiful memories with family and friends at the Club, over lunch and drinks.
