My teachers, and parents of some of my friends, tell my parents that Atharva is a very mischievous boy! My parents just smile and thank those who commented on me.
One day, I asked my grandmother, “Is it bad to be mischievous, Grandma?” She replied with a smile, “Not at all! Lord Krishna, who is worshipped the world over, was a very mischievous child.
He troubled his mother and the ‘gopis’ of Mathura. However, it was this mischievous Krishna who grew up to design the magnificent city of Dwarka. How then can mischievous children be bad?!”
A few days later, I read Albert Einstein’s biography which mentioned that Albert was also very mischievous when he was a young boy, but this mischief transformed to profound wisdom; now he is known as the man with undeniable intelligence!
One day, I asked my father why he did not get angry with me when others complained about my mischief! He told me that research has proven time and again that mischievous youngsters have notable ‘g factor’ which hints at their better general mental faculties which stands them in good stead when they grow up.
It was some mischievous kids who grew up to invent amazing stuff such as ice cream and cheese puffs! Parents sometimes find it difficult to harness their intelligent and mischievous kid’s energy and fit him into the mould of goodness created by the society; that is why some parents complain about mischievous kids!
I am sure my parents would also have been as naughty as I am; therefore, they are so wise! I am truly blessed to have parents who think differently and let me be ME, THE MISCHIEVOUS ME!
