January 26 At Community Club Sector 30

Pride in the nation, and remembering the sacrifices made by our forefathers and our defense forces protecting our borders is crucial to developing a strong nation.

Being Indian is what brings us all together, regardless of any other differences we may have, and January 26  is an occasion to celebrate our oneness as Indians.

The day began with hoisting the national flag at the waste treatment plant near DPS. Later, the event started at the Community Centre of the Sector.   For flag unfurling/ hoisting the president invited all ex defense residents around him and a rousing rendition of the national anthem followed. This was followed by a cultural program, in which children of all ages, and even adults, gave stirring performances, including patriotic songs, group dance, solo instrumental performance, and even a karaoke performance by evergreen Mr Sethia.Later we had a photo session with the ex-defense personnel. We salute them for their selfless efforts in protecting our borders.

Patriotism can be exhibited in many ways. So an NGO associated with cleanliness drive was invited to explain waste segregation and how plastic and other reusable things need to be segregated to put them to recycle.

There were more than two hundred people who made this Republic Day a memorable one. The food served by the new catering company was sumptuous and was praised by all. The efforts taken by the RWA are appreciable and the Club at the Community Centre looks promising.
