On the historic and auspicious occasion of consecration ceremony of Ram mandir, Ayodhya, Shree Mahavirji Mandir (Pahariwala) organi-sed grand celebrations on the 21st and 22nd January,2024.
Preparations began at least a month in advance in consultation with the representatives of the local residents. The entire temple complex was cleaned by the cleaning staff and eight hired helpers. The boundary walls and trees were painted in white and saffron colours. A 15 feet high metal gate was erected at the temple entrance for easy identification of the temple.
A “Shobha yatra” was conducted on the 21st morning to mark the beginning of the celebrations. About 150 devotees from the neighborhood came at 9am. The women were draped in saffron dupattas and carried the sacred ‘kalash’ while the men folk wore saffron ‘uttaraya’. Some of the men held saffron flags while two of them carried the holy book, Ramayan on their heads. The yatra was carried out on the circular road in the temple complex. The devotees chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and danced all through the yatra. Five ‘dholwalas’ added to the festivities MCD Councillor, Shikha Rai participated in the yatra. Refreshments were served after completion of the yatra.
Shri Akhand Ramayan Paath commenced at 10am on 21st January and concluded at 11am the next day. The priests of the temple, under Pandit Ganesh Dutt Shashtri, conducted the paath successfully.
A big LED screen was installed outside the Shiv mandir. Around 200 devotees watched the direct telecast of the consecration ceremony from Ayodhya. The priests conducted an Aarti in front of the idol of Shri Ram in the temple at the same time when the aarti was being performed at the Ram mandir in Ayodhya.
A bhandara was served to 1500 devotees in the main lawn of the temple. The bhandara was organised by Raja Puri (N 143), Varun Garg (N 77), Manishi Pathak (N 13) and Sh Shrey (W 133), residents of GK 1. Health Minister, Delhi Government, Saurabh Bharadwaj graced the occasion and served the bhandara.
The temple was illuminated from 19th to 23rd Jan. 1100 earthen diyas were lit.
