The First Karaoke Event in AOH

In the hustle and bustle of life, it is crucial to carve out moments of joy and connection. What better way to do so than by hosting a karaoke evening with friends from the community!

The allure of belting out your favourite tunes, surrounded by laughter and camaraderie, is unparalleled.

So, a karaoke event was held on Friday, 26 January 2024, 5-7:30 pm at the Club House. The first of its kind, this fun and interesting initiative by Shantanu was executed enthusiastically with the help of his wife, Suruchi, and friend, Prabha, to provide an informal platform for all those who love to sing along.

Whether a seasoned singer or someone shy to perform, the karaoke evening served as a perfect opportunity for everyone across all ages to let go of their inhibitions and perform in the midst of a small, warm gathering of family and friends.

Shantanu, an ardent rock music fan since his early days, harboured aspirations to sing. However, the fear of judgment from a crowd always hindered his passion to perform. Nevertheless, in his early 40s, when he frequented the karaoke bars in Delhi, he observed a prominent shift in his singing skills and those of the regulars in the bars.

Shantanu observed the fervour it exuded, along with a setup that not only facilitated electrifying performances but also allowed even those not actively singing to view the lyrics and join in the singing.

With a modest setup of two mics, a party speaker, a laptop to play the tracks on YouTube, an additional large monitor for everyone to see the lyrics, and a notebook where people could jot down their choice of songs, the event unfolded seamlessly.

Over 20 participants performed in the order listed in the book, creating palpable excitement that kept most attendees engaged until the end. In fact, the overwhelming participation was such that each person could only manage to perform one song.

The evening was refreshing as it displayed new talent, featuring performers from toddlers to the elderly, all joyously crooning to a variety of English and Hindi songs.

In all, it was a beautiful evening of musical revelry, well-received by attendees with extremely encouraging feedback. So, dear friends, warm up your vocal cords, as Shantanu will soon bring to you another evening of singing, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime!
